Every December 27th is Visit the Zoo Day. Here at the Zoo Review, we firmly believe every day is a great opportunity to visit a Zoo and have a Zoo Adventure, but this particular day is a little more special.
How can you celebrate Visit the Zoo Day?
Simple, make plans to visit a Zoo! Have a Zoo Adventure! Its a great way to make memories, and you will be helping with conservation efforts around the world!
Where can you go?
Just about any Zoo would be perfect. You can visit your favorite, local Zoo, or maybe you could explore a Zoo you have not visited before. In either case, have fun with it.
You can make plans to go with friends, family, or both. If you need help picking a Zoo to visit, check out our Zoos page to see if we have visited a Zoo near you.
Visit the Zoo Day occurs during the holiday season, and if you are traveling, it’s a perfect opportunity to explore new Zoos. There are many wonderful Zoos out there, and going to the Zoo is a great activity to make new memories!
There might be a Zoo along your travel route where you can celebrate this special day. Steve and I are constantly finding smaller Zoos that are perfect places to get out and stretch your legs.
Why is Visit the Zoo Day important?
The reasons are numerous, but two specific reasons come to mind: memories and conservation.
If your memories of Zoos mostly include animals behind bars or in cages with concrete floors, you need to update your memories! You can still find some wildlife parks that fit that description, but most Zoos you visit today have made tremendous progress in providing more natural, stimulating habitats for their residents.
Visiting a Zoo today, you may find yourself transported to other continents to not only see animals, but also be immersed in the cultures that interact with these Species. Those are the memories of Zoo Adventures. Go make those memories on Visit the Zoo day (or any other day).
The second reason Visit the Zoo Day is important to us: conservation. Did you know that Zoos (accredited members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or the Zoological Association of America) donate large portions of their proceeds to conservation efforts around the world?
By simply patroning a Zoo, you are contributing to those conservation efforts! Its really that simple!
Go have a Zoo Adventure on December 27th for Visit the Zoo Day! However, there is no reason to stop there; have a Zoo Adventure any day.
Comment on our social media posts and tell us all about your Zoo Adventures! We love to hear about them almost as much as we enjoy having our own adventures!
