On this page I want to show some pictures of the kinds of food we have eaten at some of the zoos we’ve visited. We are always excited when zoos offer healthy or unique foods. Although sometimes you just need to eat something fried. My husband and I enjoy trying the different zoo food varieties offered, so without further ado……..
Central Food Court-Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Here I enjoyed a delicious plate of Thai Chicken Tacos with White Rice and Mixed Vegetables. My husband had a Hamburger and French Fries. You can bet if there is a Hamburger on the menu he will eat it. He loves Hamburgers.
Prime Meridian Café-Dallas Zoo
We LOVE having lunch at the Prime Meridian Café. They do have your standard zoo fare like Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, and Chicken Fingers, however, they also offer a few healthier options too. Here we had the Turkey Sandwich on a Multi-grain bread. I had Homemade Herbed Potato Chips and my husband enjoyed a Fresh Garden Salad. You always have to have some kind of dessert, right? We choose a Yogurt Cup with Fresh Blueberries. The Yogurt tasted like cheesecake, BONUS!
Big River Café-Oklahoma City Zoo
This is my new favorite type of sandwich. It is a Buttermilk Chicken Fried Sandwich with Sriracha Mayo, Lettuce, Tomato, and Asiago Cheese. It is served on a Brioche bun. Delicious.
This awesome sandwich is a Fried Chicken and Waffles Sandwich. So you’ve got Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Waffles with Butter and Syrup. A Fried Egg and Strawberry Jelly. Yum!
Canopy Grill-Oklahoma City Zoo
Who loves Mexican Food? I do! So this day I ate some delicious Chicken Tingas Tacos with Fresh Salsa and Tortilla Chips.
OMG! Hot Fried Chicken and French Fries. Yes, please! Like I said every once in a while you have to indulge in something fried.
Macaw Landing Grill-Tulsa Zoo
So back to healthy. Here my husband and I had a very, very good Turkey Club Sandwich on a Ciabatta Bun. The Sandwich came with Homemade Herbed Chips. Honestly the best kind of chips in my opinion. For dessert, remember you have to have dessert, we choose to have a Fresh Fruit Cup with Red Grapes and Strawberries. Yum!
